Participants are required to attend in person and follow the current Los Angeles Department of Public Health guidelines for the prevention of COVID 19.
Course description
This course is designed to meet the OSHA and Cal/OSHA training requirements for operating mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs). This course will focus on the potential hazards, capabilities, limitations, and safety operation of MEWPs.
It is expected that all participants will operate a scissor lift and boom lift during the familiarization part of this training following manufactures established familiarization procedures.
Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss changes to the ANSI/SAIA A92.22
- Identify national consensus standards for MEWPs
- Recognize common hazards associated with the use of MEWPs
- Discuss fall protection and other required personal protective equipment
- Demonstrate concepts of pre-operational inspections
- Describe the process of equipment familiarization
- Demonstrate safe operation according to manufactures recommendations
At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a written examination and complete a performance evaluation.
Note: Participants who receive credit will be issued an operator certification card electronically.
